Memo

This week I'v learned how to 3D scan and how to 3D print.

Assignment


This week's assignment is to 3D scan something and mentain the 3D data. Additionaly 3D print it.

3D Scaning

I tried two type of 3D scanning.
  1. Laser Scaner(Next Engine)
  2. 123D catch

Laser type Scaner

I used a "Next Engine" that is one of FABLAB inventories. I tried to scan 3 kinds of material. First is water bottole made by stainless steel. Second one is a toy shaped girrafe made by block. Third one is bottole of glue that is simple shape.

In first try was failed. It maybe couse of I setted to rotate the table 360degree devided into 8 times. But it did not work well(fig1.right-picture) It comes from a influence on reflection and it have no typical point around the bottole.

Then I tried again with putting some marker on the surface. But it did not work. I tried to merge 8 models manually on the bundled software. Finally I could not merge them.

After that I changed the model bottole to miniature of giraffe made by bricks.

It was hard to scan the upper face. I put it lying. But I could not mearge models took from top and side. It maybe passible to mearge them by using meshlab or any other software. Let me know.

123D catch

I tried 3D scanning using multi angle photos. I used "123D catch" on iphone4s.

After it upload 28 pictures, I waited about 20 minutes. Above is the result. We can see cabbage and any other object. I removed these unneccessaly objects by using meshmixer.

The result was pretty good like photo. I took photos

3D Printing

I printed out cabbage model scanned by 123D catch above.

I printed cabbage model by using 3dprinter called "solidoodle2". I had a problem on the
