Final project concept (29/01/2014) Line following robot

Line following Robots are small machines, mostly designed and built to challenge theoretical knowledge in a practical ground. Each year numerous academic institutions gather and participate their small robots in some standardized contests to evaluate their abilities while coping with opponents.

Robots of this kind are relatively easy to make; yet, belonging to a multidisciplinary field which brings Electronics, mechanics, computer science and product design together makes it an interesting short term project in order to get familiar with the logics of the modern fabrication theme and utilize the superior capabilities of cutting-edge technologies.

As an Architect who worked with modelling applications, digital fabrication techniques and devices, making electronic boards and programming is a new field for me. But isn’t it one of the goals of developing the FABLAB idea to make design and production available for everyone? We need to prove this concept and this job is getting easier by the fast growth of CADCAM technology.
