Assignment XVII Applications and implications
Clothes

What will it do?

This clothes will permit you to improve the security of your life, providing you with the directional lights and a temperature sensor.

Who's done what beforehand?

The adafruit is a great example of wearable electronics. She has made a lot of different clothes with leds controlled.

What materials and components will be required?

The following materials will be required:

  1. A copper board
  2. Some electronic elements SMD
  3. A conductive thread
  4. A battery 9V

More precisely about the electronic elements.

Arduino Medusa:

  1. One Attmega 328
  2. Three resistance “0K”
  3. One resistance “10K”
  4. One resistance “499K”
  5. Four capacitors 0.1uf
  6. Two capacitors through hole 22uf
  7. One resonator 16OM through hole
  8. One Switch button
  9. One switch Slider
  10. One LED 1206
  11. One header 2x3
  12. One header 2x2
  13. One FTDI

Temperature sensor:

  1. One sensor NTC
  2. Three resistance 10K

Button board:

  1. One button
  2. One resistance

Where will they come from?

In my case all the materials are free for use in the fab lab Tecsup.
That made possible to completeall assignments and the final project.
If I have had to buy all the components, I´ll waste a lot of time and money because a lot of my boards did not function and its costly to buy playwood, rubber etc.
So, I had to fabricate a lot of boards and test them. Thank you FablabTecsup!
Its costly to import the electronic components SMDfrom the USA to Peru in small amounts.

So, paying 5000 dollars, its OK if the students have all the necessary materials there in their fablab. But its not acceptable if there are no materials. In this case, the administration of Fab Academy in the USA has to mention that the students will have to buy all the materials. They have to be prepared for it. I say it because some of my friends in other fablab in Lima did not have required materials. I think these things must be improved! Thank you!

How much will it cost?

If we take a look at the inventory of fab academy, we´ll see all the prices of electronic components.

What parts and systems will be made?

For this project I will make an Arduinoand  two boards.
All of them  will have pads through hole to connect them with the conductive thread.

What processes will be used?

With the help of milling process of the electronic boards by Roland Modela, I´ll make sensor boards.

What tasks need to be completed?

The tasks are:
To get to know how the electronics function; to learn how to make electronic boards: to learn  the programming of the boards.

What questions need to be answered?

Will it be easy to make?
How long does it take?
How much does it cost?
How to make it cheaper and more accessible?

What is the schedule?

There is no precise schedule. First is the development of the idea, then the learning process and then the fabrication phase.

How will it be evaluated?

The difficulty of the electronic work, the functioning boards and the results that give the sensor will be evaluated.
