3D Printing & Scanning

The Fun Stuff!! This was more time consuming than anything else. The Lorain Fab Lab has a very high tech 3D printer that has an environment control and uses the powdered plastic in layers. The printed object must then be bathed in a warm solution to dissolve the unwanted material. The entire process takes several hours.

Hopefully someone out there knows about Pokemon. It was the first thing I thought of. Neil said that we'd get extra credit if we managed to scan and print our object. I would have done something more complex, but I'm under time constraints and the Fab Lab is an hour drive from home..

Original Ditto being scanned.

Scott helped me with scanning and printing. The software was pretty intuitive once I understood what did what. The scanning process took about 10 minutes for the front and back of the sculpture. It took another 8 minutes, approximately to scan the top and bottom.
