what will it do?
This will be an individual project I will be doing the work.
who’s done what beforehand?
I spent time around new years designing the project and have spent time off and on over the last few months completing the majority of the work and basically leaving the circuitry and programing for last.
what materials and components will be required?
MDF will be the majority of the project making the cabinet and drawer. Drawer slides, handles, castors, will be bought.
where will they come from?
Menards will supply the material, drawer slides and castors. The habitat for humanity restore supplied the hardware, door hinges and hardware. The rest of the components were in the fablab inventory or small parts found around school.
how much will it cost?
$32 for the MDF, $2 for the door hinges, $3 for the door and drawer hardware, $9 for the drawer slide, $8 for the castors, $3 LED assembly
what parts and systems will be made?
The cabinet, drawer, storage compartment, circuit board, door stops
what processes will be used?
2D and 3D design, input and output devices, programming, 3D scanning and printing, computer controlled machining and cutting
what tasks need to be completed?
As of this time the projects is nearly done, I started back in February. Tasks left to do: design, mill and stuff circuit board, install the board and light, apply decals, construct the storage compartments for the drawer. Maybe apply a finish. If time permits I would like to try a composite storage
compartment or circuit board enclosure, just to see if I can.
what questions need to be answered?
The major question is how to design the board to handle the 140mA of current, the rest is just a matter of time.
what is the schedule?
Since it is mostly complete. I feel that the remaining two weeks are plenty to wrap up this project.
how will it be evaluated?
Evaluation should be a completed functional project, in addition to meeting Anna’s criteria.
