This
weeks assignment was to plan and document the final project
that intergrates the range of units covered. Here is a list of questions and I am going to answer them. What will it do? The plan is to make a big troll head with electronic functioning eyes. Who's done what beforehand? The animatronic eyes is something I have seen people do on the internet, but I'll have to decide if the eyes should be 2 axis - moving up/down and left/right, and whether I should have eyelids or not. What materials and components will be required? The head will be cut out in the Shopbot and the material will be expanded polystyrene foam people use to insulate houses. Where will they come from? I'll buy them in next hardware store. How much will it cost? They cost about 990 kr per square meter which is about 8 USD What parts and systems will be made? I'll make the head out of foam and then I will use the hello.servo.44 circuit board to control the motor in the eyes What processes will be used? 3D modeling printing, embedded programming, computer controlled machining, interface and application programming, output devises. What tasks need to be completed? I have made the circuit board and am trying to program it now like I want it to move. The head is ready in the computer but I have to cut it out as soon as I get the polystyrene foam. Then I have to connect the motor to the eyes and hope it works correctly. What questions need to be answered? How do I make the servo motor go the other way? Can I connect the servo motor to an input device that will control the movement of the eyes, What is the schedule? Keep working on the circuit boards and wait for the foam, then cut out the head and hopefully I will have learned enough to make the motor control the eyes. How will it be evaluated? If I finish everything I hope it will get a good grade
