Circuit board manufacture - industry (good for high-res/multi) -
etching - waste!! FabLab (good for one-off and small numbers -
machining - dust!!
Modela - cut copper with 1/64th (16mm) end mill - cut outline with
1/32nd
MILLING THE BOARD
- Select tool
- Fix board with double sided tape (no forces due to
clamp)
- Before zeroing - Ensure tool tip is clean - tap it
- hold tool when tightening -
- Debur - remove from bed with steel rule
- Once board is milled wash with soap & water -
to remove oils from fingers
Materials:
- FR4 - epoxy glass - cannot be machined
- FR1 - phenolic paper - use for milling
- vinyl cutter uses - epoxy film / copper tape - for
flexible / multi-layer circuits
- high frequency citcuits (radio) substrate
must be lossless (like glass)
