This is one womanÕs story. In theory the machine was innocent of all evil and personifying it was a personal issue. On the other hand this machine just wouldnÕt quit. It toyed with the humans in Champaign Urbana who were trying to replicate it. Our crude replication methods would not suffice despite careful and direct application of casting methodologies and more than ample application of that superb material known as duct tape!
The quartet of makers worked tirelessly to succeed with the machine but alas no machine was making our machine. Then a miracle, Mercedes found someone who had a shopbot and that kind soul cut our machine. At last a machine was making the machine. Circuit boards were created, much to-ing and fro-ing occurred and curses were abundant.
Mercedes and Dean worked long hours to conquer the MTM and much has been made of the fact that it might be easier to buy something but that would not be a true fab action. My major contribution was to apply a coat of pink nail polish to the nails of the cast MTM. It was a nice touch.
